1. Based on the article, summarize, in your own words, the main differences between the “literati” and “artist” qin ideologies.
2. What are the arguments and criticisms between the two schools in the 21st century (p514-515)? Which ideology/school of playing are you personally more drawn to?

Read “On the Process and Aesthetics of Sampling in Electronic Music Production”

Read “On the Process and Aesthetics of Sampling in Electronic Music Production” by Tara Rodgers as well as selections from Tricia Rose’s “Soul Sonic Forces: Technology, Orality, and Black Cultural Practice in Rap Music” and respond to the following questions.
Your answers to the following questions should total between 800-1200 words, each answer should be a paragraph long. You can number your responses to correspond with each question. You should not consult outside sources, however feel free to cite the assigned articles in your responses, but please use citations (author, page number) (e.g. Rose, 42).
You will be graded on how thoroughly and thoughtfully you answer the questions as well as spelling and grammar. **Include specific musical and technological details from pieces discussed in the articles and in class to support your answers.**
Questions:
1. What is sampling? Explain the two main types of sampling, some of the techniques involved in sampling, as well as several of the musical and cultural contexts in which sampling is used.
2. Discuss how sampling in hip hop reflects and also diverges from traditional African and Afro-Diasporic musical practices (e.g. repetition, quotation, oral traditions, etc.). In particular, what role does digital technology, and Black artist’s use of digital technology play in the reflections and revisions of such practices? What musical and cultural values are embodied in these newer practices?
3. According to both Rose and Rodgers, how does sampling in Hip Hop and Rap complicate Western European notions about authorship, ownership, and theft? Additionally, according to Rose, how can sampling be viewed as a form of resistance or a challenge to the record industry?
4. Based on the readings as well as your own experience, write your own “Code of Sampling Ethics.” In other words, write your own rule book for sampling that accounts for the issues of race, gender, technology, and culture Rose and Rodgers discussed. Explain your Code of Sampling Ethics based on material from these readings and lectures.

Short response paper on two articles about poetry I’ve uploaded the rubic This i

Short response paper on two articles about poetry
I’ve uploaded the rubic
This is one file and the previous one. So compare the two and write a response on it. Follow the rubic I have sent to you
it has to be 500 words For both
Comments from Customer
it’s about rap/rock & poetry, music
The first two are just instructions
The last one to write response on them, responses on what the writers mean
Clarification:
Not actually article but music preference, with a thesis statement to elaborate on
With a short response on the two write ups
I think it’s mostly linking everything together
Nas – song I no I can – is one of the top five for me as I’ll list the other
Fabulous, into you ft ft
Temia
Mary J Blige
Be without you
Nelly and fat Joe
Nelly- Dilemma
music help to relax myself and calm my nerves
helps me into deep thoughts of hope
like a call it music is life to me
Book – Discovery of poetry by Frances Mayes
He said ground your paper in the course text
as Mayes discusses what poetry is
i think is to make reflections on Mayes understanding of poetry
