ARTS299-AB2
Assignment 1 – Identity Map & Reflection
Due: Sunday February 12, 2023 @ 11:59pm
See syllabus for full details on late assignment submissions
35% of final grade
As you begin to take charge of your own career development it is essential that you really know yourself. You have talents, strengths, and skills (some may even be hidden at this point). This assignment helps you map these as well as make a road map or action plan to ensure you graduate with a portfolio that helps you reach your post-university goals.
Attached is an advanced organizer career organizer (originally designed by A. Magnifico), herein called the Identity Map, adapted for this course. Use this Identity Map to guide your thinking and reflection, and in turn, gather data about yourself and your post-university goals related to career. Use this template as a draft, go through each section and explore the information, reflect, and find connections back to your career question. Then, finalize your responses and create a Power Point Presentation for each of the 16 sections, plus connection statement back to you career question. For sections that require additional documents (e.g. resume, cover letter), please write “See additional documents” and then submit them via Blackboard.
How to start this assignment:
1) Start with section 1 and identify a Career Question that you have related to what you currently think about your future career. This does not have to be your “forever” career question, just one that you want to explore at the present time. BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE
2) Once you have established Section 1, work through the rest of the sections (in any order) with your career question in mind. DO THIS IN DRAFT FORM FIRST. It may take a few rounds of revisions and it will take time to think and reflect through this assignment.
3) Finalize your Identity Map as a Power Point Presentation. Additional documents (e.g. resume, cover letter) should be submitted as separate documents. Ensure you ad a connection statement is every section that relates back to your Career question.
For example:
If your Career question (Section 1) is: problem or question (Section 1) is: “How do I pursue a career where I can help people everyday?”.
Section 12 (Resume, Cover Letter, Business Card) – should be written and/or highlight your experience (paid, volunteer etc.), passion, or aspirations that relate to the helping people.
Try to be as detailed and explicit as possible. Once you have the Identity Map complete, write a 500-word self-reflection that addresses:
• Which of the sections do you think you have a good start on?
• Which of the sections do you think you will need to build on?
• What patterns or connections have you discovered about yourself and your Career question because of completing this assignment?
• How might you utilize what you’ve learned about yourself from this Assignment now? (e.g. applying for part-time jobs, volunteer positions, etc.)
Grading
This assignment will be graded as follows:
1. All 16 sections are complete with responses and content AND provide relevant or connected reflection back to your Career Question (25 points)
2. Your post-assignment reflection addresses all four questions above, and demonstrates your ability for introspective learning by applying what you’ve learned to your current life (4 points)
3. The overall assignment is descriptive and provides explicit examples to avoid over generalized statements. The writing is polished & proofread, no spelling errors or typos. The design of the power point is professional and utilizes a clear and concise way of displaying the information and is well organized and easy to read. (6 points)

Art 101 –
Paper 1 (Chapters 1-4)
You are to respond to the prompt found below in a three-page paper. Please read through all of the instructions that follow before beginning the assignment.
Prompt: Discuss three artworks, created by three different civilizations that we have studied, that reflect on humans’ relationship to animals. You must describe and analyze each artwork with special attention to how the animal(s) (animal hybrids, and/or human animal hybrids) and humans are rendered and how the humans and animals interact with one another. Then address the greater message each artwork reveals about the values/beliefs/customs of the civilization responsible for its production.
Artwork selection: Read the prompt carefully and select the artworks you write on thoughtfully. Each of the three artworks you select for discussion must be taken from a different Chapter PowerPoint posted to a course module (be sure to double check the Power Points as each one contains only a selection of artworks from a textbook chapter). We have covered Chapters 1-4. You may not discuss any of the artworks you have already written about in the Chapter 1-4 Assignments. Properly identify each artwork discussed (include the title and date given for the artwork on the PowerPoint). Your discussions of the artworks must include succinct descriptions and analyses of the formal properties and content, in addition to what is known about the context in which they were created.
References: Your paper must be phrased in your own words and it should build on information found in the textbook and course assignments (you may not copy and paste from course assignments; new text must be generated for this assignment). You may conduct additional research, but only reference the following credible sources: books, scholarly articles, museum websites, and Khan Academy.
Formatting guidelines: Your paper must be at least 3 full pages of text (and no more than 4 full pages of text) and contain an introduction with a thesis statement, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. It is to be typed in Times New Roman 12 point font and double-spaced, with one-inch margins. Do not write in first person. If you quote or closely paraphrase, please keep it to a minimum, and include proper citations in MLA or The Chicago Manual of Style format. Attach a bibliography to the end of your paper. Proofread your work for typos and grammatical errors. You do not need to upload reproductions of the artworks.
Please follow the instructions carefully as failure to do so will negatively affect your grade on the assignment.

I will attach my most recent document as well as a publish. The publish has guidelines for you on what I need you to complete. I indicated page numbers and how many words I would need for each. You might want to have these parts completed in a different document, so I can copy and paste them later. Please complete it as soon as possible and get it back to me.
I am not sure if the page numbers are correct anymore, but I would look for titles listed in the instructions/guidelines.
