A global action plan has been developed in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to promote the health of refugees and migrants. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) encourages international cooperation on migration issues and facilitates refugee safety (Pécoud, 2018). Further, refugee and migrant populations must be in good health in order to ensure their protection and the protection of their hosts. Similarly, UNHCR advocates for refugee integration into national health plans and systems. As part of its efforts to improve primary healthcare for refugees, the United Nations Refugee Agency advocates for refugee integration into national health systems, enhance the healthcare infrastructure, provides medicines, medical equipment, and laboratory diagnostics, and constructs or renovates facilities. As a result, refugees in the affected areas benefit from UNHCR’s advocacy, support, and funding. It is also the responsibility of the WHO to provide global leadership in health and migration issues through its Health and Migration Programme (PHM). Moreover, PHM works to ensure that the refugee and migrant population is given access to basic human rights in order to achieve a better future (Organization, 2021).
International communities have begun to rely on the Organization for coordination of humanitarian relief in the case of natural and man-made disasters. Being a member of an international organization can have significant benefits for a country, as they have been able to establish a more effective and coordinated structure that will enhance humanitarian assistance. In addition to welcoming refugees and migrants and helping them rebuild their lives, faith communities play an important role in advocating with legislators to ensure adequate support for migrants’ needs (Schwander, 2018). Furthermore, they offer religious buildings and safe spaces for people with special needs as well as spiritual and material support.
